A new duo project for violin and voice that synthesizes Boeur & Holmgren’s mutual interest in the expressive elements of traditional Norwegian folk music, and their intimate and perceptive individual improvising styles, to create elegant and abrasive new works.

Elise Boeur welcomes you into the shimmering world of the 9-stringed hardingfele, sharing her deep love of the expansive forms and subtle elasticity of time in traditional Norwegian music. Elise’s solo performance is grounded in aural folk traditions and honed through intensive study in Nordic traditional music at Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge, but what it’s really about is the sound - an ethereal cloud of overtones transporting a room to a timeless space.
